This season, Jo Malone London is taking a walk through the garden, swapping traditional bouquets of orange blossom, jasmine, or peony for fresh, heirloom vegetables. The British fragrance and lifestyle house has introduced a limited-edition collection where beetroot, carrot, green tomato, and butternut squash take center stage. These unexpected creations highlight earthy, nutty, and woody notes anchored in patchouli, adding a captivating depth that transforms them from simple garden ingredients into provocatively charming scents.

Behind this unconventional step in the world of luxury perfumery is Céline Roux, Head of Fragrance at Jo Malone London. She found inspiration in the surprising harmony of urban gardening and homegrown produce. “We just loved that people, even in the middle of cities like London, can grow their own carrots and herbs,” Roux notes. The intention was to celebrate the idea of something homegrown and unmanicured, while ensuring the final result retains the brand’s signature elegance.

The collection introduces three new colognes in 30 ml (1 fl. oz.) bottles, all tied together by a single common denominator. To connect the entire series, Roux utilized patchouli – a scent reminiscent of damp earth, designed to evoke the spirit of gardening, weeding, and harvesting. “I thought it would be nice to have this gentle link to where the vegetables come from, the soil,” she explains.

Velvety Butternut, Scarlet Beetroot, and Carrot Blossom

Each of the colognes offers its own sophisticated interpretation of the harvest. Velvety Butternut delivers a woody gourmand experience. It opens with fresh ginger, transitions into notes of roasted butternut squash blended with warm tonka bean, and finishes on a base of rich patchouli. Céline Roux describes this composition as “very creamy and woody”.

Next is Scarlet Beetroot, an elegant fruity fragrance celebrating the deep, vibrant color of the crop. The scent pairs crisp blackcurrant and beetroot with a delicate touch of patchouli.

Rounding out the trio is Carrot Blossom, a fresh scent that blends top notes of fennel with a heart of carrot blossom and a signature patchouli base. Speaking about the entire vegetable-inspired line, Roux adds that despite its unique inspiration, it does not feel overly sweet: “They’re quite edible, but in a different way.”

Elevated Essentials for Bath and Home

The garden collection naturally extends into premium products designed for body care and home ambiance. To bring garden-fresh sophistication into elegant homes, the brand introduced the Tomato Leaf Hand Wash (250 ml / 8.5 fl. oz.). This new hand wash is formulated with naturally derived glycerine and meadowfoam seed oil to gently cleanse, purify, and soften the skin.

The atmosphere of any living space is further enhanced by the Green Tomato Vine Candle, featuring a captivating herbaceous aroma. It is available in two elegant sizes: an exclusive 300g (10.5 oz.) container and a smaller 75g (2.6 oz.) version.
