RIMOWA has a rare talent for turning ordinary luggage into a fashion statement. After the vivid summer shades of Orange and Magenta and the timeless Classic Titanium, the German maker is going in the opposite direction: calm, dark, and deep. The new RIMOWA Ink Blue color joins the iconic Original collection permanently, becoming the darkest blue the brand has ever given its aluminum suitcases.

RIMOWA Ink Blue: A Color Born From the Permanence of Ink
The name is no accident. Ink has been with us for centuries, and it is exactly its depth and staying power that inspired the new shade. RIMOWA doesn’t apply it to the surface like a conventional coat of paint. Instead, it uses anodization, a process in which the pigment sinks directly into the aluminum. The result is a near-black midnight blue with a subtle metallic sheen, the character of the metal still visible underneath.

The thinking behind the collection was summed up by Fanny Schricke, chief product officer at RIMOWA: “Inspired by the permanence and richness of ink, the new Ink Blue Collection explores how color can become part of the material itself.”

A Shanghai Campaign With Sydney Lemmon, Plus That Lifetime Guarantee
The launch is accompanied by a campaign film starring American actress Sydney Lemmon, who searches for love through the blue-lit streets of Shanghai, following a trail of handwritten letters.
Ink Blue itself arrives in three Original sizes: the compact Cabin, the roomy Check-In L, and the generous Trunk Plus. Every detail is color-matched, right down to the TSA-approved locks, the cases roll on RIMOWA’s own Multiwheel system, and a newly engineered handle now includes a damper mechanism, so it lowers slowly and silently. The updated Flex Divider adds a zipped storage pocket. All models come with the lifetime guarantee the brand is known for.

Beyond Suitcases: Leather, Denim, and Aluminum
The new color isn’t limited to luggage. The leather Groove collection arrives as a cross-body bag and a zipped pouch in smooth Italian calf leather. In denim, there are packing cubes, a toiletry pouch, and a first for the brand: a reversible bucket hat. An anodized aluminum card holder rounds out the lineup.

The collection is available now at RIMOWA stores worldwide and at RIMOWA.com, where Original prices start at $1,550 for the Cabin, $1,950 for the Check-In L, and $2,525 for the Trunk Plus.
