Exactly twenty-one years after the iconic Confessions on a Dance Floor, Madonna is back where she belongs. Her fifteenth studio album, Confessions II, arrived on July 3, 2026, via Warner Records, marking her first new album in seven years and a long-awaited return to the sound that defined an era.

“People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold. A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.”
Madonna about Confessions II

What the Album Is About

Confessions II picks up the spiritual thread of its predecessor, but this is far from a simple retread. Madonna reunited with producer Stuart Price, the creative force behind the original Grammy-winning album, and together they built something that feels both nostalgic and undeniably fresh. Joining Price behind the boards are Martin Garrix, Cirkut, and Andrew Watt, adding a modern pulse to the classic Confessions DNA.

The guest list alone tells a story. Sabrina Carpenter shows up on Bring Your Love, the lead single that Madonna debuted as a surprise guest at Coachella 2026, marking her first festival appearance in twenty years. Colombian singer Feid brings Latin heat to Read My Lips, a bilingual duet about lies and love gone wrong. Dutch DJ Martin Garrix collaborates with Madonna for the very first time on the haunting Bizarre, while Belgian artist Stromae lends his distinctive style to the seductive My Sins Are My Savior.

But the album’s most personal moments come from family. The Test features Madonna’s daughter Lola Leon, who co-wrote the deeply personal lyrics about healing and the progression of their relationship. Fragile is a tender tribute to her late brother Christopher Ciccone and the turbulent but close bond they shared. Producers Andrew Watt and Cirkut also teamed up with Stuart Price on Danceteria and L.E.S. Girl, two tracks chronicling Madonna’s early years in New York City, the legendary club scene, and the friendships that shaped her.

Thematically, the album moves between healing, freedom, and resilience, but the sound stays true to the dance floor as a space where the body speaks louder than words. It’s this combination of deeply personal themes and relentless dance energy that makes Confessions II one of Madonna’s most cohesive projects in years.

Madonna at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final

As if a new album wasn’t enough, Madonna has been confirmed as a co-headliner for the first-ever halftime show at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, set to take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The expected global audience exceeds 1.5 billion viewers. Meanwhile, Read My Lips featuring Feid has already become one of the unofficial anthems of the tournament, making this a defining cultural moment for both the album and its creator.

Confessions II – The Film and Live Performances

Madonna also gave the album a bold visual counterpart. Last month, Confessions II – The Film, directed by TORSO, premiered at the 25th Tribeca Film Festival. The immersive thirteen-minute experience brings the album’s first six songs to life through a boundary-pushing visual narrative blurring the lines between music, film, and performance art. The film features sixteen celebrity cameos, including Sabrina Carpenter, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Moss, Julia Garner, Debi Mazar, and Honey Dijon, and was met with widespread critical acclaim.

On the live front, Madonna pulled off one of the year’s most memorable stunts. The day before the album’s release, she announced a surprise concert in Times Square with just thirty minutes’ notice. An estimated 50,000 fans showed up, turning the heart of Manhattan into a massive open-air dance floor.

Where to Listen

Confessions II is available now on all major streaming platforms, as well as on CD, cassette, and multiple limited-edition vinyl pressings. Like its predecessor, the album works as one continuous mix, so the best way to experience it is from the first track to the last without interruption.
